Fill Up on This Season’s Finest Foods

It’s time to fill up on this season’s finest with these insanely easy and ridiculously fresh recipes to tantalize your taste buds. To top things off, we’re even recommending our favorite dessert — mini cheesecakes. Yep, you read that right — Heaven on Earth.

But before we dig into those recipe ideas, here’s a few tips to keep these summer recipes healthy for you and your family.

Tips and Tricks to Keep Summer Foods Healthy

You’re ready to indulge in some delicious bbq foods, light salads and delightful flavor combinations, right? I’m there with you. Just because these foods are easy and light doesn’t mean they have to be unhealthy.

Here are a few tips and tricks to remember so you can make simple AND healthy foods this summer.

  1. Choose healthy oils. Ditch the canola and other seed oils — they are NOT heart-healthy despite the misleading labels. Choose olive oil for anything you’re drizzling over uncooked such as salads, dressings, marinades, etc. Choose avocado oil for grilling, baking or sauteing. Go with coconut oil for baking.
  1. Read the labels. Seriously, just take a few seconds and glance at the ingredient label before buying anything. Skip out on artificial colors, preservatives and even the sneaky “natural flavoring” label that isn’t natural at all.
  1. Go organic. Try to pick organic produce and meat if you can. There’s no need to add pesticide residue, hormones or antibiotics to your menu if you don’t need to. Plus, non-organic foods are linked to higher cancer rates — and to be completely honest — they don’t taste nearly as good either. The flavor has been drained along with the nutrients due to those nasty unnecessary chemicals.

With these tips, your summer will be the healthiest and most delicious yet! Alrighty, let’s get you those family-friendly summer recipes you’re sure to love.
